Precious
As the president of ALA UCHI WOMEN Development Initiative, I am calling on other organizations, human rights organizations, NGOs to fight for the release of this innocent girl, Precious who was taken advantage of by her client in a hotel which lead to his death, by taking an overdose of sex pills to inflict more pains on her. Please she might be a victim of anything but we need to fight for her to go and sin no more. She even tried to look for help for him from the hotel management
‘Whether the police or the deceased’s family that is keeping the girl, all we saying is let us have justice for Precious’ Glory Alexander Thomas.
Center for Environment Media and Development Communications, CEMEDEC also joined in demanding the release of Precious from police custody.
In a release signed by Chief Constance Meju, titled, “Set Precious Free Now”, the human rights and gender advocacy body called on the Lagos State Police to set Precious free.It stated, “Our attention has been drawn to the continued detention of a naïve innocent girl drawn into part time prostitution by poverty and ignorance and her unfortunate encounter with a dead client.
“We have studied the video posting of events following the unplanned death of late Sir Igbedion Igboegbulem, a lawyer practicing in Lagos and the very thoughtful quick reach out for help by a bewildered young girl of 17 unaware of the implication of the death.
Fortunately, the obvious cause of the death, overdose of sex enhancement drugs, were there for all to see, thus exonerating Precious from accusation as cause of the death.
“We therefore call on the police especially, as the family say the deceased has been laid to rest to release Precious from detention so she can go and chart a new cause for her life.
This girl must be traumatized and in need of serious counseling and guidance being yet a minor. We sympathize with the family of the deceased and pray God to comfort them.
We urge parents to bring forth only the number of children they can cater for to avoid unpleasant consequences for their children and urge AkwaIbom State government to step in and help rehabilitate Precious.
Signed:
Chief Constance Meju

A similar appeal addressed to the wife of the Akwa Ibom State governor’s wife, was sent by a lawyer calling for the release of ‘Girl Child Precious’.
As more Nigerians continue to condemn her incarceration and call for her release on Social Media, the deceased’s family is blaming the police for the girl’s fate.
According to friends of the deceased’s family, they have no time met the Precious nor confronted her and they did not ask the police to detain her. They claim the immediate family’s took their dead home and laid him to rest just last week but the police tried unsuccessfully to extort money from the family to delete the video recording of the sordid calamity.
The outcome is the release of the video which is now trending.
They pleaded to be left to mourn in quiet reminding Nigerians that the late lawyer is only a knight and not a saint.
