It was a harvest of decampees in favour of the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP as known political players and hundreds of supporters moved from the state major opposition political party the All Progressives Congress APC and AAC respectively. This took place at the Isaac Boro Park on Friday September 30,2021.
Speaking with National Point ,Ben Eke, chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state expressed happiness that the party members are returning to their own party. ‘PDP is the only umbrella that takes in every body that has the mind to develop the country, state and local government. The PDP in Rivers State is very strong; His Excellency the governor has made it possible for people to come into the party because of the good works he is doing. You can see that the governor has touched every strata of the society, every local government has gotten a touch of his administration in terms of project; people are very comfortable with him’.

The Ahoada East LGA boss speaking on his performance at the occasion of his one hundred days in his second tenure describes it as ,’awesome; because within this period his administration has touched the people in terms of human capital development, we have also within this period embarked on people oriented projects like: electricity, schools, roads, water and security’.
On the perceived body language of the governor to contest for the presidency Barr. Ben Eke, proclaimed that the governor has come of age and the constitution allows him.
“The governor has come of age, the constitution allows him. he is fit by age, qualification and one who has studied political science, has been local government chairman, chief of staff, minister of education and now Governor. In these capacities he has served makes him eminently qualified to contest for the post of the president Federal republic of Nigeria. Therefore, I’m one person that will encourage him to contest”.
One of those who recently dumped his political party as state chairman of Green Party of Nigeria, GPN to the state ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP Hon. Alphine Whyte said his return to PDP is like coming back home; because from its foundation we were there.”My return to the PDP is like coming back home because from its foundation we were there. We were like adventurers, we went out and we discovered that there is no better place like we were before. We have come back to the PDP. Coming back is not like I am to meet a strange arrangement and I have come to strengthen the party. I’m motivated to return to the PDP because not until you are close to a man you won’t be able to mark his performance”.
The former deputy mayor of Port Harcourt city local government said the governor has embarked on legacy and signature projects with the little resources accruing to the state to the benefit of all and me as a person needs to contribute to complement his effort on his developmental agenda.
The founder of DELGA 17 a political group said due to the sterling performance of the governor this political group is formed to spread the governor’s good works in all the wards in Degema Local Government.” DELGA 17 draws its members from the whole 17wards in the LGA and her members are of the Peoples Democratic Party, the group is the evangelical arm of the party at the local government level in a bid to reach out to the doubting Thomases to pull out from the petty opposition and support the governor in his developmental strides.
Prominent amongst those who decamped to the PDP are: Levy Braide, Ogbonna Nwuke, the APC Rivers State spokesperson who resigned from the APC accusing the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, of high-handedness,and many other big political weight who crossed to the PDP.
