The project, funded by the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (BYEDTF), offers a potential solution to waste management and the rising cost of cooking gas. Bayelsa Electricity Company Ltd, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment, initiated the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for a proposed 60 MW power plant in Elebele. Governor Douye Diri has stated that the project will end the state’s reliance on the national grid and provide uninterrupted power supply.
