The new executive members of the South-South/South-East zone as the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIOD) Nigeria, Port Harcourt branch have been inaugurated.
Speaking during the investiture of the 4th chairman and its executive members in Port Harcourt recently, the national president of the institute, Alhaji Tijani Borodo, said that the purpose of CIOD is to train managers and directors with potential to lead organizations and firms as well as nations.
He pointed out that the biggest problems facing Nigeria as a nation state is leadership at all levels and strata, adding that the priority of CIOD is to train people and members of the institute.
“The biggest problem we have in this country is leadership. Therefore, at CIOD our primary responsibility is to train people and directors for both firms and leadership positions in this country,” Alhaji Borodo lamented.
He urged the chairman of CIOD in South-South/South East to value his members as well as direct them properly.
The new chairman of the institute in South-South/South-East zone of CIOD, Dr. Innocent Akuvue, said that the key to strengthening the institute is to work round the clock to ensure that more members join them.
“Therefore, I want to assure you that by the next time, we meet or gather, that the 90 percent of persons that will be inside hall or venue will be our members. In fact, I will introduce a lot of incentives that will attract many people to join our CIOD in our zone.
He commended invited guests who attended the event for their support and presence as well as members of the institute for playing a vital role for the success of the inauguration.
