The people of Egbema ethnic group in Imo and Rivers State have made a collective case to be grouped together in one state instead of being divided into Imo and Rivers States.
The position of the people was contained in a memorandum they presented to the National Assembly Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution.
One of the delegates to Abuja where the case for the Egbema community was presented, Chief Uche Mike Chukwuma, said Egema people have always been one and desire to be grouped together.
He said the people also made a case for them to be made part of the proposed Orashi State to be created from Rivers, Imo and Anambra States.
Other delegates of the community to Abuja on the creation of state were Dr Japhet Ugwuoha, Chief Nelson Ekperi, Prof. Clinton Ezeke, Lady Uwakwe and Raymond Ogbuka. They were supported by Egebma people resident in the Federal Capital Territory.
