Gbelekekro Women Empowerment and Development Organization recently sensitized and empowered women in Gelegele Community, Edo State with implements to promote and enhanced livelihood in the oil impacted community.
Comrade Cynthia Bulubiere Bright, leader of GWEDO told this National Point that the sensitization cum empowerment meeting was held with Gelegele community women and key stakeholders to increase their awareness on livelihood issues and how economic empowerment promotes peace.
She said that over the years, “women in communities have been denied the rights to their livelihood, environment, space and been marginalized leading to health challenges and poverty” and the empowerment will help beneficiaries feed themselves, regain their voices, care for their families and help build peace in the community.
She expressed gratitude to Kebetkache Women Resource and Development Centre, Port Harcourt for supporting the programme. A total of 20 women and young girls benefitted from the empowerment programme.
Cynthia thanked Gleam Media for also supporting the project
