Security operatives in Bonny Local Government Area have arrested a man, Fredrick Pollyn, popularly known as Opulo Opulo, for allegedly attacking and severely injuring a resident.
Pollyn was apprehended in the early hours of Monday, November 24, 2025, in a coordinated operation carried out by the Nigerian Police Force and the Bonny LGA Surveillance Team, led by the Chief Security Officer, Warisenibo Hon. Prince Wilcox. The operation was conducted on the directive of the Bonny Local Government Chairman, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple.
According to a press release issues by Amb. William Chapp-Jumbo, the Media and Communication Assistant, to the council Chairman, Pollyn allegedly attacked Mr. Kenneth Thompson Allison on Sunday, November 23, 2025, along Wilbros Road, Bonny.
The suspect reportedly used a machete during the assault, inflicting severe injuries that resulted in the amputation of the victim’s fingers. The attack followed an earlier act of intimidation targeted at the same victim.
Reacting to the arrest, the LGA Chairman condemned the incident and warned that Bonny will not tolerate criminal behavior. He stressed that the local government under his watch will ensure that anyone involved in acts capable of disrupting the area’s peace and security faces the full weight of the law.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be transferred to the Port Harcourt Police Division for prosecution. Meanwhile, the victim is receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed healthcare facility.
