Jonathan Obuebite, a former Commissioner for Education in Bayelsa State, has congratulated Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo over their victory at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
Timipre Sylva the All Progressives Candidate in the November 11, 2023 Bayelsa State Governorship challenged the victory of Governor Diri at the tribunal. But the three-member tribunal chaired by Justice Adekunle Adeleye that sat in Abuja, affirmed the re-election of Governor Diri and dismissed the petition filed by Timipre Sylva and the APC for lack of merit.
Obuebite, in the statement which he jointly signed with his wife, Anne Obuebute said the victory at the tribunal was well deserved, saying that it was that of good over evil.
The statement read in part, “Today, justice has been served and your mandate and the decision of our people have been reaffirmed. Your perseverance and commitment to the democratic process have paid off and the people of Bayelsa State have been vindicated.
“This victory is not just a personal triumph but a testament to the power of the people’s will. Your love for peace, dedication to serving the public interest and upholding the rule of law has been upheld and we celebrate this significant milestone with you.
“May this victory inspire you to continue working tirelessly for the betterment of our state and the nation at large? Your leadership qualities and vision are crucial in shaping a brighter future for all.”
