The member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and frontline aspirant in Bayelsa State gubernatorial election, Hon. Fred Agbedi said claims that he drifted from the Restoration caucus to the other divide of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) would not distract him from his ambition to win the party primaries.
Agbedi stated this during an interactive session with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council, at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre in Yenagoa.
The third-time Reps member said his focus right now is on how to win the party primaries, noting that whatever Bayelsans are hearing is not unusual, emphasizing that where there is a contest, those who are not winners or feel threatened will always cry out loud.
He said, “Politics sometimes has to do with blocks. Dickson became a governor courtesy ‘Green Movement’. So, if that happened and Dickson says, look some people worked with me, some people suffered for me, some people toiled with me, I will name it Restoration and that I will like to support one of the Restoration members in the PDP, I don’t think it’s anything new. It has happened before. It is only with the vision with which you are coming to government. That’s the essence of the vision.
“So if he says so, fine. If all the Restoration members agreed to that message, fine, good enough. So I don’t think that that is dividing PDP. It is not. It is certainly not.
“For me, I can tell you am ready for September 3rd. I don’t want anything to distract me; am focused on September 3. Let me also tell you this, if any of us who are running had any opportunity, none of us will call the next person. That is not the issue right now.
“What some of us are out for is to work hard to win our contest on the third of September and then celebrate victory to work onwards to ensure that we defeat APC by November 16”.
