Several members of the Rivers State Para-athletes stormed the gates of Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday to appeal to the Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, to approve and release funds for them to attend the forthcoming para games, scheduled to hold in Abuja, from 26th March to April 1st 2026.
As of the time of filing this report, the Chief of Staff had met with the protesting Para-athletes.
A source told National Point that he had requested to Permanent Secretary to come with him to see the Governor and brief him.
It was hoped that the governor would give approval for the release of the funds to enable them travel before Friday.
