Founder and general overseer of one of the biggest Churches in Nigeria, Pastor David Ibiyieomie has blasted the Nigerian National Assembly, NASS for failing to honour women in the just amended 1999 Constitution.
At the fifth service of the church beamed globally, the overseer expressed disappointment with the national lawmakers for not recognizing the requests of women even though they represent a high percentage of voters in the process.
According to him, by failing to recognize women, the NA$S has shown itself to be archaic.
He blamed religion for the unprogressive stand of the Assembly and warned that a country that fails to recognize women will never advance. Said he:
“Religion is a problem; old religious practices are being brought forward to modern times.
“Women are intelligent, some of the women beat some now in the Assembly while they were in school.
More women hold PHDs than men in this country. They should respect women.
“I was disappointed when I saw that nothing was done for women. Their wives, mothers are women.
He advised women to stop supporting politicians who do not respect women.
“Stop voting for those who do not respect women. Look for those who recognize and respect women; you have the vote”.
The SMHOS leader commended countries where women are leading using Crotia as an example and noted that since Nigerian independence men have been leading but with dismal outcome.
Ibiyieomie also advised men to stop abusing their wives. He said raising your hand against your wife makes you barbaric and goes against the biblical configuration of husband and wife being one.
He charged them to honour and respect their wives and wives to do same.
