Abuja, Nigeria – The Southern Nigeria People’s Mandate (SNPM), a pan socio-political organization, has issued a scathing assessment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two years in office, declaring his administration’s performance as “zero in all sectors.” The group, in a statement by its President, Augustine Chukwudum, warned the world of what it termed the “failure” of the current government, citing a drastic increase in hardship for Nigerians.
According to the SNPM, President Tinubu’s 2023 campaign promises to alleviate suffering have been unfulfilled. “A day after Tinubu was sworn in, prices of goods started skyrocketing,” Chukwudum stated, lamenting that instead of addressing the hardship, the President allegedly told Nigerians he had “no idea of what to do.” The organization accused the administration of ignoring its advice and pursuing an agenda to “create more hardship,” seemingly unbothered by the cries of the suffering masses.
The SNPM highlighted significant price increases since May 2023:
Fuel: From N250 to N950 per liter. Cooking Gas: From N400 to N1,100 per kg. Rice: From N25,000 to N100,000 per bag. Beans: From N150 to N400 per cup. Garri: From N600 to N3,000 per painter.
The group further accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which it sarcastically dubbed “All People’s Corruption,” of suppressing genuine peaceful protests and attempting to establish a one-party system to “castrate Nigerians in all angles.” The SNPM asserted that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” is, in reality, its “opposite,” and that the National Assembly has been “pocketed” by the President, preventing it from checking “evil policies.”
To address the nation’s economic woes, the SNPM put forth several suggestions: Naira Strengthening: Reduce the exchange rate to N50 per US Dollar. Local Refinery Support: Supply 100% of crude oil needed by local refineries daily at an exchange rate of N50 per US Dollar, promising a “two thousand percent” alleviation of suffering. Enabling Environment: Create a conducive environment for industry, tourism, and agriculture to thrive, fostering job creation and crime reduction.
The SNPM concluded by warning that “more hardship is coming unless Nigerians do the needful by checkmating the harsher evil policy of his administration.”
