The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday received the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) from Governor Siminalayi Fubara and deferred debate on the document to allow lawmakers undertake a detailed examination of its contents.
The MTEF was presented during the first legislative sitting of the Fourth Session of the Tenth Assembly following the House’s return from recess.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, while reading a correspondence from Governor Fubara, informed members that he had received the framework document from the governor. The document was subsequently laid before the House by the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Hon. Major Jack.
Following its presentation, lawmakers resolved to postpone debate on the MTEF until the next legislative day to enable proper scrutiny before further legislative action.
Meanwhile, the House also received a petition from stakeholders of the Ngo-Oyorokoto communities, drawing attention to the stoppage and alleged abandonment of the Ngo-Oyorokoto Atlantic Road Project.

The petition, presented on the floor of the House by the member representing Andoni Constituency, Hon. Ofiks Kagbang, urged the Assembly to institute a comprehensive legislative investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suspension of work on the strategic road project.
The communities expressed concern over the fate of the project, which is considered critical to improving transportation, economic activities and connectivity in the riverine areas of Andoni Local Government Area.

The petition is expected to be considered by the House as lawmakers resume full legislative activities for the new session.
The developments were contained in a statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker, Martins Wachukwu, on Thursday.
