Alexander Nelson Akari
Mr. Alexander Nelson Akari was born into the family of Chief Nelson Akari and Mrs. Ajua Nelson of blessed memory. Mr Alex was born in Ghana, in the year 1967 and he came to Rivers State, Nigeria with his parents at a very tender age. He is the third child of his parents amongst eleven (11) siblings.
Educational Background
Mr. Alex attended Township School, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt for his primary education and attended Sea School, Isaka for a period but later completed his secondary education at Alinco Comprehensive School, Port Harcourt. His tertiary education was at the University of Port Harcourt where he studied theater Arts, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts.
Professional Life
He briefly worked at the Port Harcourt Tourist Beach from 1990 to 1993. After his tertiary education and National Youth Service he got employment with the Bayelsa State Council of Arts and Culture in 2001 and worked for19 years as a performing artist till his death. He also worked part time as an OAP with 93.1 the peoples FM in an evening comic programme, where he displayed his creative comic skills and made the programme a delight to the public.
Mr Alex was a member of the Uniport Arts theater, The Crab (Creative Review of Arts and Books)hence he was known as a CRABITE. He was also an active member of the Radio Television Theater and Art Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU).
Christian Life
Late Mr. Alex was a devoted Christian, he attended Church of God Mission, Geese, Port Harcourt in his early years as a Christian and later worshiped at the Mercy Christian Centre, Tombia Road, Yenagoa where he served the Lord fervently as a deacon before his death.
Married Life
He was married to Mrs. Kemebradikumo for eight (8) years and the marriage is blessed with a son.
He will be remembered for his artistic prowess in comedy, dancing, singing and other forms of artistic expression.
