MAP Scheme is fraudulent and the actors (NERC, FG, DisCos, MAPs) are well aware of the “desperate situations” the Nigerian electricity supply consumers found themselves. These desperate situations were created by these gangs.
Every electricity supply consumer needs meter, to pay for what’s consumed, and it’s a global practice. But in Nig, it’s a different practice. FG/NERC allowed and supported the DisCos to run on estimated billing even after signing a contractual agreement on metering plan for all. May be NERC needs to inform Nigerians of any clause in the agreement where it was stated that consumers are to pay for meters and the meters are the property of the service providers (DisCos). Moreover, if the DisCos failed and have decided not to abide by the agreement they willfully entered into, why foisting the responsibility of meter provision on the already traumatised, exploited and helpless consumers? Since the privatization of the power sector, NERC and their allies have been dancing around with some confused metering plans, instead of compelling the service providers to stick to the agreement, knowing fully well that metering plays a major role in the energy supply industry.
MAP Scheme is fraudulent and unacceptable to Nigeria electricity supply consumers.
Meter Asset Providers (MAP) Scheme was “supposedly” to allow other investors to invest on metering to relieve the service providers the burden of providing meters to their customers.??♂ Today, so-called “investors” and exercise are highjacked and frustrated by the service providers, who are the actual culprit in the whole saga.
FG/NERC should jettison this obvious fraudulent, exploitative and suppressive scheme in the energy supply industry in Nig. Nigerians deserve to enjoy affordable, reliable and efficient electricity supply.
Say NO To Darkness!!!
