To help stem the wave of youth engagement in negative activities like restiveness, crimes, kidnapping, cultism, cyber fraud, violence, among others, arising mainly from idleness and unemployment, a non-governmental organization, Youth Advancement Scheme recently organized the third edition of The Nigeria Youth Talent Hunt (Ambassador for Humanity Award).
The event was hosted on October 1, 2019, Nigeria’s 59th Independence Day Anniversary.
According to the organizer and initiator of the talent hunt, Mrs Mercy Elemchukwu, the hunt is an annual event aimed at helping youths discover their gifts and curbing youth challenges like engagement in cultism, robbery, violence, kidnapping, cyber-crimes and other vices.
The event brought many youths together and piloted them on ways to strategically engage in programme planning, skills acquisition, policy development, among others.
This year’s talent hunt also witnessed the unveiling of the maiden edition of the Nigeria Youth Page, a youth magazine that offers the young, room to showcase their writing skills.
Mrs Elemchukwu who, is also an author, used the occasion to urge parents, pastors and government to ensure the youth take advantage of the Ambassador for Humanity Award, an annual event, to exhibit and advance their talents.
She expressed gratitude to all organizations and individuals who supported the project.
