Connected Development Team, CODE, on September 24, 2022, hosted the Akpabu Community Development Committee Quarterly Forum in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State
The event had in attendance the executive members of the Akpabu Community Development Committee which however, had an absent female representative.
The meeting started with an opening remark by the FTM Champion, Mr. Oha Ndubuisi Okpara who gave an overview of CODE’s work in the community and how Akpabu Community became a beneficiary of the EMOC2 Project.
He proceeded to unveil CODE’s initiative towards a successful project monitoring and evaluation to enable oil rich communities benefit from development projects cited in their communities through monitoring and evaluation.
‘The Follow The Money Model, taking them step by step to strengthen their capacity in holding the government accountable for resources allocated to their community.
Responding to Mr. Ndubuisi’s presentation, the CDC chairman on behalf of the community expressed satisfaction with CODE’s intentions to work with the community to secure their rights in demanding for accountability for resources allocated to their communities
He outlined various projects abandoned in the community and stated that with the new development following CODE’s intervention in their community they strongly believe a positive change will take place and that will provide for the people, access to basic social amenities, especially in the areas of health, water and quality education.
The CDC members later identified the community’s priority needs to include provision of school, health and water facilities with the decision reached to draft letters to the relevant agencies which should be held responsible to address them.
