The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has elected Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa as its new state chairman.
Dimkpa, a known ally of former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, emerged at the party’s state congress held over the weekend, despite uncertainties surrounding the party’s national leadership.
The congress took place in the wake of a court judgment that voided the Senator David Mark-led National Executive Committee of the party, a development that prompted some state chapters to suspend their congresses. However, the Rivers State chapter, aligned with Amaechi, proceeded with its exercise, culminating in Dimkpa’s emergence.
The process was also held against the backdrop of reported disruptions during the party’s ward congress in Abua/Odual Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, the immediate past state chairman, Chief Leader Sampson, has congratulated the newly elected executives. In a message posted on his verified social media handle, he urged party members to rally behind the new leadership ahead of future elections.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the newly elected executives. Your dedication, passion, and commitment to our cause are truly inspiring. Together, we will forge a path towards progress and unity in our party,” he wrote.
He added, “Let us work hand in hand to achieve our goals and make a positive impact.”
