Delta State governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Friday, said his administration would soon turn the state to a construction site, signalling his preparedness to do more for the people of the state.
Governor Oborevwori stated this while addressing journalists shortly after a thanksgiving service held at Living Faith Church, Osubi, to celebrate his victory at the Appeal Court in Lagos.
The governor called on the opposition to join him to work for the people and betterment of the state.
He said: “On Monday, we are having ground-breaking ceremony to flag-off the N78billion contracts awarded to Julius Berger for the construction of three flyovers, cloverleaf, pedestrian bridges and road expansion in Effurun and Warri metropolis.
“Already, the contracting firm, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc., is set for the commencement of the projects and it’s fundamental because it will signal the commencement of more projects for Deltans.
“The opposition knows that we won and we will continue to win because God is on our side and I am calling on them to join hands with me for us to work together in developing our state.
“We are one, so let’s work together because the issue of litigation is just too much for the state. God has given us victory and Deltans are happy with our victory.
“Two weeks ago, I called on all our contractors to return to site to utilise the dry season and very soon Delta State will become a construction site for the benefit of our people”.
Governor Oborevwori said; “Appreciating God is something that I always cherish and today we have come to thank God because, thanking God opens more ways for man and I will continue to serve God.
“I also want to thank God for the successful burial of my mother-in-law and for granting journey mercies to all our guests.
“The Appeal Court victory is for all Deltans including APC, it is a double victory and a blessing because it came on a day that we laid my mother-in-law to rest.
“It is turn by turn, other governors have ruled their tenure completely and with God on our side, we will complete our tenure to His glory”.
The governor was joined by several dignitaries including, Senator Ned Nwoko and wife Regina, speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, commissioners, other top government functionaries, Socialite Obi Cubana, managing director of UTM Oil and Gas, Mr Julius Rone, among others.
Earlier, state Pastor of Living Faith Church, Pastor Alexander Cornelius in his brief sermon, said everything in the kingdom of God answers to the word of God.
He commended Governor Oborevwori for always returning to thank God for every victory, saying, “When you are a thanks giver, everything around you works for your sake”.
He said God would never stop working when men continue to give Him glory and urged Christians to continue giving thanks and glory to God, “because He is a God of justice who rules in the affairs of men and because no one can stop the move of God”.
