Many Deltans are now clamouring for technical colleges admission in Delta State in sharp contrast to what was obtainable few years back. Commissioner for Technical Education in Delta State, Hon. Joan Onyeamechi made the revelation while speaking with newsmen on the resumption of a new academic year for primary and secondary schools in the state. Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has underscored the importance of the East-West Road to the economic development of the oil rich Niger Delta region. Oborevwori raised the issue while playing host to the Senate Adhoc Committee investigating the non-completion of the East-West Road led by Senator Abdul Ningi at Government House, Asaba. Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged community newspaper publishers to speak to the conscience of the people by promoting the prevailing peace, unity and love in the state. Governor Oborevwori, who gave the charge when the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Council, led by the State Chairman, Comrade Jude Obiemeyego visited him at Government House, Asaba, however appealed to the publishers not to incite the people against the government.
