Governors from the six states in the South South geopolitical zone met in Benin City, the Edo State capital on Thursday to discuss ways of reviving the moribund BRACED Commission. Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nehikhare, said the meeting hosted by Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, came after many years that the commission had not been functional. Former governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, has been reelected as the President of Edo College Old Boys Association (ECOBA). Igbinedion’s reelection took place at the 2024 Delegate Convention/AGM Election held in Benin City, Edo state. Chief Igbinedion after the election said a major focus of the new executive of ECOBA will be to build an e-library for the school in the first quarter of 2024. The Benin Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has accused authorities of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma of failing to remit nearly N1 billion deducted ASUU dues and members’ welfare savings/loan repayments to the union.
