The Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF) has embarked on the training of about 80 residents of Ogboibiri, an oil-bearing community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on how to monitor oil producing activities in their community. The Lagos State government through its Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, (DSVA) opened the ‘EKO HAVEN;, a shelter for survivors of domestic violence. This is part of the state government’s commitment to ensuring that holistic support is provided for survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence. Executive Secretary DSVA, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi at the opening, revealed that the Shelter located in Ikorodu axis of Lagos, is a 30-bed space capacity to provide immediate shelter services to high-risk survivors of domestic violence.
