The Delta State Government has ordered massive clampdown on cultism and cult related activities in schools across the state. The state’s commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, who gave the directive at a news conference in Asaba on Thursday, said the directive became necessary following rising cases of cult related activities in secondary and primary schools in the state. He said the state Ministry of Education and relevant supervisory and regulatory authorities have been directed to ensure proper supervision of all schools to nip cultism in the bud. Another set of cults and cable theft suspect have been nabbed by the Edo State Police Command. According to the police, one Emeka Ogwu, 27, for was arrested for allegedly stealing an armoured cable belonging to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) while 12 other suspects were arrested for their alleged involvement in cultism.
