Prior to the commencement of the 2023 general elections, a key peace and development advocacy non-governmental organization, Community Initiative foe Enhanced Peace, CIEPD organized a training for 149 community members from eight flashpoint local governments in Rivers State February to . Venue was the Retreat Center of the Bishop Crowther Memorial Anglican Church, Rumubiakani, Port Harcourt.
Mrs Egondu Esinwoke-Obalor, executive director of CIEPD said the three-day programme was in partnership with the Foundation for Partnership Initiative in the Niger delta, PIND with the reduction of electoral violence to the least minimum as target through early detection, prevention and mitigation.
Participants covering community leaders, women, youth and the media, were drawn from Port Harcourt, Obio Akpor, Eleme, Akukutoru, Asaritoru, Tai, Ikwerre and Onelga local governments.
