The Commander, Edo State Command of Man O’ War Nigeria, Mr. Odunze Eberechukwu Caleb, has disclosed that the organisation has promoted 40 personnel and honoured nine past commanders and deputy commanders.
Eberechukwu, who disclosed this at the Man O’ War Ranking and Decoration ceremony in Benin City, said the organisation also worked with other security agencies to fight cultism and criminality in the state.
“We are also inaugurating the rescue and operation team for the Man O’ War in Edo State. We have a standby team from the organisation that is sent as an advance team for rescue operations.
“They are going to be uniformly dressed and whenever you see them, you will know that they are members of the rescue and operational team for Man O’ War,” he said, adding that Man O’War will be supporting governments and security to tackle insecurity.
He said the organization decided to honour people that had served the organisation for over 20 to 35 years, as ex-state commanders. “We have 40 personnel that have been promoted and decorated today. We also have nine past Commanders and Ex- Deputy Commanders that have been also honoured today,” Eberchukwu said.
In a goodwill message, Edo State Secretary, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Comrade Wilson said the Edo State Red Cross extolled the high level of discipline in Man O’ War and pledged the cooperation between Red Cross and Man O’War.
One of the promoted officers, Oviahon Oghogho Happiness, said her promotion called for more work and dedication.
Monica Omokaro, who spoke on behalf of other ex-commanders said she was a commander at two different times in eight years, said, “It was not gathering the youths of the state together. By the grace of God, I was able to take the organisation to where it is today.”
