In a bid to minimize friction between the management and staff of some local government areas in the state, the Caretaker Committee, CTC chairman of Eleme LGA, Hon. Godwin Abbey Ollo has promised to pay all staff of the council their salaries.
Hon. Abbey Ollo made this promise at the council secretariat, Ogate, Nchia, during the 2018 May Day celebration.
According to him, “I want to promise all members of NULGE that every staff will be paid. He expressed satisfaction with the co-operation and team work which exist between the management and staff and work force of the LGA”.
The council boss re-assured that the leadership of the council would address all requests made by NULGE.
“My administration will address all the request made by NULGE, particularly, the furnishing of the union office ,.” Hon. Abbey Ollo pledged.
Earlier in his address, a leading member of NULGE in the LGA Comrade Mimi Gospel had explained that the essence of the May Day celebration each year is to evaluate and appreciate the significant input of workers across the globe.
“May Day is a national and international programme observed all over the world today to celebrate the input of workers to their organizations. It is also the day when the struggle for emancipation of workers began.”
Comrade Mimi Gospel requested: “Mr. Chairman, we want to appeal to you to furnish our union office as well as ensure the completion of the remaining renovation of the union hall which doubles as worship centre and the payment of establishment exams for 2013/2014 session till date.”
He explained that the leadership of NULGE in the council decided to honourHon. Abbey Ollo with the ‘Good Leadership Award’ because he has acted in line with the specific mandate Governor Wike gave him on the day of inauguration, stressing on the need to encourage the chairman to do better as well as develop his potential for greater service to humanity.
“To this end, the workers and the management in conjunction with the union confer and honour you with Outstanding leadership qualities and good governance award. This Award is to charge you and encourage and strengthen your God- given talent and potential for greater service,” Comrade Mimi Gospel stated.
He commended Hon. Ollo for being a beacon of hope and inspiration to many people .
Our correspondent reports that the highlight of the 2018 May Day celebration in Elemearea was the presentation of an award (plaque) to Hon. Ollo which was performed by the council’s HLGA, Chief Neeka Clement Daasang.
