Following the approval for a new police station at Abara town in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, the paramount ruler of Abara town, Eze Jonah Nwala has commended the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for directing the LGA’s chairmen on where the various campuses of the Rivers State University (RSU) are to be sited
Eze Nwala who, is the Ochimba of Abara town made the commendation shortly after the foundation laying ceremony of an Ultra-Modern Divisional Police Headquarters at Umuola in Abara town in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Said he: “We the people of Abara town want to appreciate Governor Wike for giving directives to the LGA chairmen where new faculties of the Rivers State Universities are constructed to build police stations there. For us in Abara, the directive of Governor Wike are a positive development given the strategic position of our town in the geo-political affairs of Etche Ethnic Nationality. We also have a common boundary with some Ikwerre towns such as Igwuruta, Ipo and Omademe town.
Eze Nwala described the newly commissioned Faculty of Agriculture Campus located at Abara town, Etche as not only a campus for the study of agriculture and rural development but a factory.
“We the people of Abara town are glad and impressed with the decision and move of Governor Wike to have brought not only a school or faculty of agriculture to Abara town but Governor Wike and his team have also brought a factory to Abara town,” Eze Nwala emphasized.
The monarch hinted that prior to the period he ascended to the throne in 2013; there was insecurity within Abara town and its environs.
“On ascension to the stool of Ochimba Abara town in 2013 there used to be insecurity and fear but when I came in, the clergy men and I held a prayer and handed everything about Abara town to God. Today, there is peace and harmony at Abara town. Therefore, I will thank God for what He has done for the people of my domain.”
The monarch stated that with the peace and security as well as the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture Campus at Abara town, the area would soon become the economic hub of Etche LGA and the neighbouring LGAs within the area, stressing the need for a quality police station.
He called for collaboration between the police commissioner and the council chairman to ensure a quality police station.
“In order to construct a quality police station at Abara town, I want to appeal to the chairman of Etche LGA, Dr. Anyanwu to liaise with the CP to ensure that the architectural design of the station is of standard,” Eze Nwala added.
He expressed displeasure over the exclusion and neglect of Abara town in the scheme of things by the successive governments in the LGA, despite being host to five oil wells.
Eze Nwala also lamented over the inability of Dr. Anyanwu and his team to pay him homage at his palace during the programme, which he said was a slight.
Earlier, while performing the foundation laying ceremony, the chairman of Etche LGA, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu said the project was in line with the directive of the governor to some affected LGA chairmen in the state to construct divisional police headquarters in their areas, and assured that the Etche component of the project would be completed in record time.
“The Abara Divisional Police Headquarters will be completed and delivered on record time. This is because soon campaigns and elections would commence,” the council boss stated.
He commended the people of Etche for their support to his administration.
Meanwhile, the councilor representing Ward 4 (including Abara town) Mrs. Faith Amadi said the people of the Ward are happy with the leaders and leadership of the PDP administration for siting the new police station within Ward 4, which she represents.
