Following security threats in some unity schools in some parts of the country and response to the directive issued by the Federal Ministry of Education that unity schools across the country should be shut down for the time being, the management of Federal Government College (FGC), Port Harcourt has assured parents of the safety and security of their and wards at the college.
Speaking to newsmen in his office recently, the vice principal (Special Duties) of the college, Dr. Ogbonna Joe said the management of the school has taken necessary measures against security threats or breaches within the school premises.
“The management of Federal Government College, Port Harcourt has taken all the necessary measures to forestall any security breach or threat at the college now and in the future. However, I want to tell you that there is harmony and peace at the school,” he assured.
Dr. Joe pointed out that the college had no challenge or issue because the school is well managed.
“We have no issue here at FGC Port Harcourt. This is because the college is well managed and we are aware of our area and environs. We are doing what we can to enhance the standard of learning at the college continuously.”
The vice principal (Special Duties) explained that students of the college had gone far with their third term exams before the directive from the Federal Ministry of Education that all unity schools should be shut down before or on the July 20, 2022, adding that in spite of this, the management of FGC Port Harcourt will comply with the directive issued by the federal government.
He hinted that some para-military security agencies were on ground at the premises to provide security in the school.
He promised that the staff of the college would continue to operate and discharge their duty according to public service rule (PRC) during and after the school holidays.
