If you are a traveller using the Igwuruta-Airport-Omagwa route, There are these bad spots between the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Princess School, Tiffany Hotels & Old Port Harcourt International Airport Hotel Building.
There is actually an emergency Police Unit situated in between that stretch.
Many kidnap mishaps have occurred there this year 2023; Airport Passengers, Staff and other persons traveling through there, have been victims.
On this note, I wish to recommend the following Safety & Security Steps If You Are Using The Route:
-Adjust your driving techniques when you get there,
-Do not stop to pick anyone,
-Do not stop to drop anyone,
-Increase your security alertness when traversing the area.
Apart from several incidents of kidnaps which have taken place there, the Tuesday December 19th 2023 (today’s) own was so horrific; a fully loaded Siena van and an SUV were emptied right into the adjacent bush. Victims were business men and women, mothers and children and some private persons.
I don’t know if Ikwerre Local Government Council, Rivers State Government and the Security Agencies love that forest so much, such that they have been slow to take the necessary action about this bush between the Airport and Igwuruta-Ali.
Maybe the day an elected or senior appointed politician, or their families become victims, just maybe, then, Government would do something.
God Bless Rivers State.
