The Odionwere.oflguogbe village, in Ovia North East Local Government of Edo State, AmbassadorJoseph Aghedo, has eulogized HRM Oba Ewuare 11, the Oba of Benin for upliftingthe rich Benin cultural heritage and promoting norms and traditions since hisassumption on the throne.
Hon. Aghedo made thecommendation at the 2019 Edo State Schools Cultural Competition, Season 15, puttogether by the Edo Legacy Foundation International,in conjunction with Bravin Magazine. Theme was, “Giving Back To TheSociety.”
The traditional rulersaid the culture and tradition of Edo people is their pride and called onothers to join the crusade.
“Our culture andtradition is our pride; I call all and sundry to join the Oba in promoting andpreserving the rich cultural heritage in Benin Kingdom to greaterheights.”
He used the forum tothank the Oba for the historical glamour of the Ugie Odudua and Ugie lviefestivals that later made the whole world know that the Binis are endowed witha lot of diverse festivals.
Ambassador Aghedoappealed to government at all levels to key in to the project to ensure thepromotion and preservation of the rich culture and tradition. He said such interventionsshould commence from the elementary school, adding that parents should educate and teach their children theirculture and traditions to avoid the foreign languages that have caused problemin our cultures.
The Odionwere alsothanked the organizer of the event, Pedro Aghahowa for his concept to reawakenBini culture and traditions as headmonished him to continue in the struggle.
In his remarks, AmbassadorPedro Aghahowa, expressed gratitude to everybody that graced the occasion.
In a related issue, leader of lnneh Theatre International Troupe, Sunny Obasuyi, extolled Oba Ewuare 11 for the overall well being of people through interventionist people-oriented projects, cultural and socio-economic programmes, and empowerment since he came to the throne.
Obasuyi said thecharitable kind gesture of the monarch has encouraged them to re-dedicatethemselves to his avowed commitment to the preservation, sustainability andpropagation of the rich cultural heritage and tradition of thekingdom.”The Oba’s practical acts of financial and moral support havecontinued to engender unprecedented fame and praise for lnneh Theatre InternationalTroupe.”
He called on all Edopeople to support the palace for the continuous progress of the cultural valuesand norms of the great Benin Kingdom.
