A clergyman based in Ejamah, Ebubu in Eleme Local Government Area, Pastor Ersamus Ode, has raised an alarm about threat to his life and that of his family following repeated invasion of his residence and ministry by armed robbers, kidnappers and vandals.
In the latest breach of his safety, the pastor said, “It was a very scary moment for my family, I almost lost my daughter due to shock.”
He said it had been a series of calculated robbery attacks, kidnapping attempts, vandalism and security threats, which had been going on for a while now. “We have lost properties worth over N3 million.”
He pointed out that the attacks first started his business premises and the church. Before they extended to his home
He added that it was God’s mercy that had kept them alive to this moment.
He said in the last attack, which happened on Monday, 14th July, he and his family narrowly escaped. But the invaders virtually emptied the apartment of personal and household property.
He said he has now moved his family out of the place for safety sake. He added that though he had informed security agencies about the situation, the attacks continued. “Our security agents haven’t been very helpful but thanks to their little effort,” he noted however.
He wondered what he did wrong. “No day passes without a little kindness to those in need. We don’t have much, but the little resources have always been sacrificed for the needy.
“What’s my offence? How can I and my family be robbed consistently in a particular area? Are we the only ones there? We are only sacrificing in pain and selfless labour.
“Please let the general public and the relevant authorities be notified and come to our aid as we are in danger. I don’t know who is behind these unfortunate and heartless attacks.”
