Police Investigate Killing Of IAUE Student

Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of Julius Okpor, a 300-level student of Ignatius Ajuru University, who was recently killed in a suspected cult-related attack in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt.
According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Grace Iringe-Koko, the incident occurred on Saturday, July 20, at about 11:30 a.m. along Cecilia Road.
Okpor was reportedly shot by suspected members of a rival cult group. Police officers who responded to a distress call at the scene rushed him to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
Iringe-Koko said preliminary findings point to cult rivalry as the likely motive behind the attack.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olugbenga Adepoju, condemned the killing and reassured residents that the police were intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
“We are determined to bring those responsible to justice and restore peace to the affected community,” he said.
The police also urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with the ongoing investigation by providing credible information that may aid in the arrest of suspects.
