Baptist High School, Port Harcourt in Rivers has floated a scholarship programme where public spirited individuals and corporate organizations could choose and part-sponsor the education of one or more students of the institution.
Tagged, Scholarship Support Programme, the programme sponsors could provide 25, 50, 75 or even 100 percent of the tuition and other fees of the student they choose to support. Sponsorship can also be extended to academically gifted or sports-talented students.
“At Baptist High School, Port Harcourt, we believe in unlocking potential through education and sports. You now have the opportunity to sponsor a student’s journey by contributing to our Scholarship Support Program!” said a promo of the programme.
BHS, Port Harcourt is one of the legacy post-primary institutions in Rivers State. Founded in 1948 by missionaries of the Baptist Mission from the United States of America, the school has produced people who have contributed immensely to the development of the society both in Nigeria and globally. Two of such people are the current Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice of Rivers State, Mr. Dagogo Iboroma, SAN and the current Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Alabo Boma Iyaye.
Meanwhile, the 1997 graduating class of the school has undertaken to underwrite the senior school certificate examination fees of the 2025 graduating class.
Describing the 1997 set as “a beacon of excellence,” the management of the school said the set’s commitment to the school’s legacy has been inspiring.
