Thousands of women thronged Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, to benefit from an empowerment programme sponsored by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, as part of activities marking the 2026 Amaseikumor Festival.
The Amaseikumor Festival is an annual traditional celebration observed in Gbaramatu Kingdom to cleanse the land and reaffirm cultural values.

The festival, presided over by the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, began on Monday, April 6, and climaxes today, Saturday, April 11, 2026.
Throughout the week, the kingdom witnessed colourful processions and traditional rites in honour of revered deities, including Gbaraun Egbesu, Ibolomobo-ere, and Amaseikumor, drawing participation from indigenes, visitors, and cultural enthusiasts.

The atmosphere in Oporoza has remained festive since the commencement of the celebrations, with various social and sporting events adding to the excitement.
On Friday, Isoko National FC defeated Ogolagha FC to emerge winners of the 2026 Amaseikumor Festival football tournament.
There was also Esther Matthew Tonlagha medical outreach, where people were tested for medical status and treated according to their diagnosis.

At the empowerment programme, beneficiaries expressed appreciation to High Chief Ekpemupolo and other prominent sons of Gbaramatu Kingdom for the gesture, which they described as timely and impactful.
The initiative, though facilitated within the framework of the festival, attracted women from different communities who gathered in Oporoza to participate.
Dignitaries and guests from across Nigeria and beyond are expected to grace the grand finale, underscoring the growing cultural significance of the Amaseikumor Festival as a rallying point for unity, tradition, and community development.
