…inaugurates key projects in Bayelsa
President Bola Tinubu assured on Friday that his administration would defeat terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria.
He made this assurance during a one-day working visit to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where he commissioned several significant legacy projects.
Speaking at a town hall meeting following the inauguration ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of democracy’s dividends reaching the people.

He highlighted the collaborative spirit between the federal and state governments, stating, “Development advances further, faster, when the federal government and the state government work in partnership and towards a shared purpose.”
Among the inaugurated projects was a 60 Mega Watts Gas Turbine, which Governor Douye Diri described as a cornerstone of the state’s “Assured Prosperity” agenda. Diri noted that this project, along with others, fulfills long-standing promises and addresses historical injustices.
The President specifically praised Governor Diri’s leadership, noting the transformative impact of the commissioned projects.

“These transformative projects are creating opportunities and jobs, and hope for our nation,” he remarked, adding his commitment to continued support for the state.
He promised to work collaboratively to “make the state more Deltaic than Delta,” a statement highlighting the shared vision for regional development.
President Tinubu acknowledged the economic challenges, including the biting effect of fuel prices, but urged Nigerians to consider the broader global economic context.
“We will continue to find ways to ameliorate the suffering of the vulnerable,” he assured, reaffirming his administration’s care for its citizens and its dedication to finding solutions for economic ease.

Key projects the President inaugurated included the 60MW Gas Turbine that will significantly boost power supply, enabling industrialization and economic growth.
The Angiama-Oporoma Bridge: A 630-meter bridge, described by Governor Diri as righting a historical injustice, will reduce travel times and costs for over 60 communities.
Bayelsa West Segment of Senatorial Road: Part of a broader initiative to connect formerly marginalized areas and stimulate development.
Dualized Road into New Yenagoa City: Enhancing mobility and unlocking new economic opportunities in the capital.

Governor Diri further highlighted the administration’s focus on the blue economy, thanking the President for facilitating waivers for turbine importation and urging continued federal support for other vital road projects like the Sagbama-Ekeremor – Agge Road and the Yenagoa – Oporoma – Ukubie Road, requesting reimbursement for state-funded phases.
President Tinubu concluded with a message of optimism, stating, “Nigeria will be great. And we will succeed,” underscoring the power of productive partnership and shared commitment.
