Young newlyweds were reportedly killed in a car crash in US while pulling out of a judge’s office where they had just wed.
“They hadn’t even been married for five minutes,” LaShawna Morgan, mother of the groom, told The Beaumont Enterprise.
Harley Morgan and Rhiannon Morgan were 19 and 20 respectively, and were leaving a Justice of the Peace courtroom Friday afternoon in Orange County, Texas. As the couple pulled out of the parking lot and onto Texas 87 Highway, an oncoming Ford pickup, reportedly towing a trailer with a tractor, collided with their car. The driver of the pickup wasn’t injured, reports KFDM news.
Relatives mourning the tragedy
Orange police confirmed the couple’s death to Texas news station 12News.
Harley’s aunt Christina Fontenot, along with others who attended the ceremony, were driving behind the couple and witnessed the horrifying crash.
“The two of them had so many dreams. “I watched my baby die,” LaShawna told KFDM.
“I’m still wearing my son’s blood because I was trying my best to rip him and her out of the car. I witnessed my own worst nightmare,” she told KFDM. “That’s an image that will haunt me the rest of my life. I won’t forget it. It will never go away. I will see that truck hit my baby and kill my baby every night of my life, the rest of the time that I’m on earth.”
The couple were planning on a larger celebration of their love over the holidays. “They wanted a Christmas wedding – the 20th of December,” LaShawna told KFDM.
LaShawna wants everyone to count their blessings, and not take life for granted.”Even if you’re mad, hug your family. Love your family. Even if they’ve made you mad, make amends,” she told KFDM. “Don’t go to bed angry because you don’t know. You don’t know how fast you can lose that person.”
