Edo state chapter of Accord Party, yesterday, said the party has finalized plans to beg Mega comrade Clement Eranomigho Edegbe to contest Edo state governorship elections in 2020.
Chairman of the party, Joseph Osa Omorogbe, said this on the official welcoming of Mega Comrade Clement Eranomigho Edegbe into the party in Benin city in Edo state.
He said though Edegbe hasnot indicated his interest to throw in the towel into the 2020 governorshipelection in the state but they are compared by his humanitarian exploits acrossthe globe and that the party believes he has the same ability to transform theeconomy fortune of the state.
“We are overwhelmed of his coming and we are equallybegging him, not asking to contest an election in 2020. 2020 should not be leftaway. He has not made his position clear, I as the executive of the party, I amusing this platform to solicits. Other members that are here, to beg him tocontest in 2020 because we believe he is a man with an open and a big heart.
“We believe he is aman that will not drop us or any persons at the middle of the sea because he isfighting a fight that is not for his family but that of everyone.
“Come 2020, he is aman to beat and he is a man that we have said go for us. For now, that is myposition”, he said.
Edegbe further called on Nigerians of eligible age to joinpolitical parties of their choice in order to be part of nation buildingpolitically.
Commenting, the Edo state woman leader of Accord Party,Mrs. Okojie advised the party members to preach the message to the people. Sheurged the women to fight for their children future by telling their wards tospread the messages learnt in the event. She begged them not to sell theirvotes in 2020, Edo governorship elections coming very soon in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, their spokesperson ComradeKelly Brown said Cement. Edegbe has the leadership capacity to become thegovernor of Edo state, considering what he has done for Nigeria abroad. He saidEdegbe had become his mentor in Edo before he travelled abroad.
