In commemoration of the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child and the 20th Anniversary of the Nice Esther for all Foundation (NEFAF), the Nice Esther for all Foundation and the Nice Esther Alamieyeseigha Rescue Initiative (NEARI) has enrolled 56 indigent students from Amassoma community in Bayelsa State in an education insurance scheme.
The scheme which is sponsored by Nice Esther for All Foundation (NEFAF) will cover a period of six years academic sessions. The beneficiaries are in primary and secondary schools.
Speaking at the event, founder, NEFAF, Dr. Nice Tobolayefa Alamieyeseigha, the (Ebimiere Ogboin) said the project was in line with the ideals of Governor Douye Diri in entrenching educational prosperity at the grassroots.
She said the foundation would extend the scheme to the eight local government areas of Bayelsa State and beyond. She said the aim was to empower 1,000 beneficiaries in the projected N500 million education investment project.
Alamieyeseigha added that the program is designed to secure the educational future of beneficiaries in a way that will be sustained even when the foundation winds up. The scheme is partnering with Leadway Insurance Company. The scheme also covers accident for the beneficiaries.
Dr. Alice Atuwo Executive Secretary Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF), who was represented by Mrs Queen Tubolayefa Indiamowei, commended Dr. Alamieyeseigha for the innovative project and pledged the support of the EDTF to the foundation.
The Member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 1 at the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Felix Bonny Ayah represented by Hon. Douyi Fyne thanked the foundation for kicking off the initiative in Southern Ijaw Constituency 1. He promised to work closely with the founder to bring the project before the Bayelsa State House of Assembly to ensure the spread of it across the eight Local Government Areas.
High point of the event was presentation of the sustainable education insurance cheques to beneficiaries amidst celebrations.
