Dreams FC of Kumasi over the weekend in Kumasi, Ghana defeated Rivers United 2-1 to record their first win in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Dreams had lost 2-0 to Club Africain of Tunisia in their opening match in the group but made spirited efforts that paid off in their encounter with Rivers United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
John Antwi scored first from an assist by Eric Boateng in the 35th minute and sent the home fans into wild jubilation.
Boateng also helped Abdul Aziz Issah with an assist for the second goal in the 75th minute.
Rivers United reduced the deficit through Alex Oyowah just as the match was about to end to make the scoreline 2-1.
Club Africain secured the top position in Group C with six points from two games after defeating Academica do Lobito of Angola 3-1 away.
Rivers United dropped to second place with three points from the same number of matches.
