Four young girls from Ebonyi State; Divine Sunday, 11, Victory Sunday, 8, Anointing Sunday, 5 and Salvation Sunday, 4 had been abandoned in Degema headquarters of Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, with the whereabouts of their parents unknown.
Speaking to National Point, the eldest child, Divine Sunday, said that their father’s name is Sunday Agu while their mother’s name is Blessed Ugo.
“We are from Afikpo in Ebonyi State. Our mother and father left us and travelled. Our parents had issues and our dropped us with our dad and travelled for some months now.
And now, our father has abandoned us too. We heard that our father a bricklayer, has travelled to Enugu State. As for our mother, we have not heard where she is.
“Once in a while, our father sends us N2,500 or N5,000 through an Igbo man that sell chemist in Degema.
Our mother doesn’t care about us. I am the one that is taking care of my three siblings. We have not started school. We feel very bad each time we see our fellow children going to school.
“My last sibling, Salvation, who is four years old, always cry to see our mother. She use to say, “I wish I will stay with my mummy. I want my parents to enroll us in school. We have not eaten for some days,” Divine lamented.
