Given that prayer is vital, the people of Elibrada Community in Emohua Kingdom, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, have held their 2023 Elibrada Day of National Thanksgiving Service and Prayer 2023 with the theme: ‘Power of Gratitude’ Psalm 105:1.
Speaking at the event at the Elibrada playground, Pastor G.C. Osigbo said that with the thanksgiving service and prayer organized by the people, soon, the president and vice president of Nigeria as well as the state governor would come from Elibrada community assuring, that the prayer offered in the land will sink into the head of the youths of the area.
“I believe that the prayer offered here today will sink into the heads of the youths of Elibrada.”
Pastor Osigbo who was one of the guest ministers, told the leaders of thought in the community, to allow women of the community pray for the peace and development of the community every last Monday of the month at the community’s Anglican Church.
Another guest speaker, Rev. Goddy Oti told the people that the blood they shed in the past was still crying and speaking against their land, pointing out that anybody who shed blood in the community will die.
“I want to tell you that the blood you have shed in this land of Elibrada is speaking against you and me. Therefore, from today I want to say that anybody that sheds blood in this land of Elibrada will die after this prayer.
“If you plan any attack against another person in this community, you will lose your position or seat. If you plan any evil you and your household will go down” Rev. Oti warned.
He stated that the 2023 Elibrada Day of National Thanksgiving Service was not ordinary, adding that it is a way to go while Dr. Gift Asuru told the people to fear God and keep His commandment.
In his remarks, the paramount ruler of Elibrada Community, HRH Eze Ohna Ebenezer Worlu Ogunde, said that every son and daughter of Elibrada should contribute his/her quota towards the peace and development of the community.
“I want to appeal to all sons and daughters of Elibrada to contribute their quotas toward the peace and development of Elibrada community. I want all of you to work round the clock for the progress of Elibrada,” Eze Ogbunde urged.
The monarch pointed out that the relative peace in the area today was made possible through the prayers of ministers of God and the people of Elibrada, stressing the need for more development programmes in the area.
“Each time we gather, let us discuss more about the peace and development of Elibrada and Emohua in general. Similarly, I want to appeal to the conveners of this thanksgiving service to ensure that it becomes a regular event,” Eze Ogbunde appealed as he commended members of the 2023 thanksgiving service committee for a job well done.
On his part, an indigene of the area, Elder Kingsley Onwuchenuju said that with the prayers and supplications, the community has been liberated while Chief Lawrence Ukachukwu said he was pleased with the organizers of the programme.
The youth president of Elibrada community, Prince Graham Amadi harped on the need for governments at all levels to come to the aid of Elibrada Community.
“We need government’s attention at Elibrada. Governments should come and help us to renovate our health center and equip it properly as well as renovate our primary school and secondary school,” Amadi pleaded.
He assured the people of the area that there would be no more killing and social upheavals in the area.
Chairman of the occasion2023 Elibrada Day of National Thanksgiving Service planning committee, Engr. George Ejoku said that this is the first of its kind in the history of Elibrada, explaining that it all started through the suggestions of stakeholders on their platform.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress and success recorded during the event, pointing out that the programme was sponsored through self-effort.
Ejoku urged youths of Elibrada to shun social vices and emulate good causes as well as remain law abiding.
He lauded the secretary of the committee, Comrade Weneda Weli and other members of the committee for a job well done.
Those present at the event were a former commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Hon. Prince Charles Beke, factional APC chairman in Rivers State, High Chief Emeka Beke, and Henry Amadi, among others.
