Ahead of the Local Government election in Rivers State due later this year, the Chairman of the Coalition of Supporters of Democracy and Good Governance in Nigeria, Comrade Muhammed Usman Giwa, has said that the Chairman of Eleme Local Government, Chief Obarilomate Ollor, deserves to be re-elected to serve the people of Eleme LGA for a second term.
Comrade Giwa, who is the chairman of Niger Delta/South-South Special Monitoring Team for Federal Highway of the National Headquarters, Abuja under the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) said that there are several reasons why members of the union and some non-indigenes in the area want Hon. Ollor to run for a second term.
The chairman said that since Ollor assumed office he has guaranteed security and there has been peaceful co-existence between indigenes and non-indigenes.
“Since Hon. Ollor assumed office as the chairman of Eleme LGA, we have experienced peace and stability. Apart from the co-operation among the residents of the area, there has been peaceful co-existence among the indigenes and non-indigenes of this LGA.”
Comrade Giwa stated that the non-indigenes in the area had enough clout to ensure that Hon. Ollor gets re-elected for a second term.
“We the non-indigenes in Eleme LGA are well-grounded. We know the political landscape of this LGA well. In fact, Hon. Ollor is resulted-oriented. Therefore, the non-indigenes in this LGA will give Hon. Ollor total support to ensure that he is re-elected for a second term to serve the people of Eleme,” Comrade Giwa assured.
He commended Hon. Ollor for resolving the crisis that occurred between members of NURTW and the members of the Task Force in the area, assuring that the issue of harassment and intimidation of members of the union is now a thing of the past.
You will recall that recently, Hon. Ollor won the Most Outstanding Security Man of the Year Award from African-American Security Group.
