Edo State police command has paraded 15 suspects arrested for kidnapping, murder and armed robbery including a teenager who stabbed a 38-year-old woman to death in a hotel room.
Parading the suspects, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Moses Joel Yamu, said on September 5, at about noon operatives of Evbuotubu Division acting on information arrested one Kingdom Paul, 18, who killed his lady friend named Victory Oro, 38, in an undisclosed hotel in Benin City, where they went to have fun.
“The victim was immediately rushed to Supreme Hospital Upper Ekenwan where she gave up the ghost. Corpse deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
Paul, who hails from Akwa Ibom State confessed to the crime, saying he didn’t know what came over him after offering to pay the deceased ₦2,000.
The PPRO said “On 01/09/2024 at about 1300hrs, the operatives of the command’s Anti Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit, while on surveillance patrol along Obedu road, Uromi upon reasonable suspicion, stopped three persons namely Christopher Lucky, 24, Kelvin Eboigbe, 24 and Ehis Jonah, 26 riding on a Qlink Motorcycle with reg no BEN 489 VN.”
He said during interrogation, one Tecno Spark 9 handset in their possession rang, the call was placed on hands free and the caller gave his name as Ayuba Mohammed and further stated that the owner of the phone by name Gazali Hassan, went missing on August 8 with his motorcycle.
The PRO said investigation was launched and findings showed that the suspects killed the said Gazali Hassan and took his motorcycle and the operatives mobilized to the scene of crime, along Idumoza Pipeline in Uromi, Edo state and recovered the corpse to Camillus Hospital Mortuary, Uromi for autopsy.
In another case, Yamu said on September 3, about 10.30pm, Special Operations Squad while on stop and search, accosted one Eric Donald and Prince (surname unknown) of Ayen Community, Benin City.
He said when the suspects sighted the police, Prince took to his heels while the operatives arrested Eric, and a locally made Beretta pistol was found in his possession.
