People in 52 communities across four local government areas of Rivers State now enjoy steady supply of potable water. The water projects are in located in Ebubu (Eleme LGA), Korokoro (Tai LGA), Terabo, (Gokana LGA), and Kpean in Khana LGA.
In an age of total absence of municipal water in most parts of Nigeria, HYPREP’s water project has received the commendation of Environment Minister, Balarabe Abbas Lawal.
“In our pursuit of a sustainable and healthy future, access to clean water and robust healthcare are foundational pillars. The water scheme project we celebrate is not merely a structure but a symbol of our commitment to providing clean and accessible water to the people of Ogoni land, “Minister Lawal said of the project.
Aside from the water project HYPREP coordinator, Prof Nenibarini Zabbey and his team started the construction of the Ogoni Power project, the Buan Cottage Hospital, the 100-bed specialist Hospital and the Centre for Excellence in Environmental Restoration, CEER, all of which will have direct socioeconomic benefits on the Ogoni people”
What’s perhaps most interesting about HYPREP’s interventions in Ogoni land is the policy of inclusion. Here, no less than 40 percent of workforce is assigned to women while the physically disabled persons are not left out of the action.
