The Chairman of Andoni Local Government, Hon. Prince Lucky Promise Otuo, has launched the 2026 Andoni Carnival alongside a broad development blueprint tagged, “Rediscover Andoni,” aimed at boosting investment, strengthening security, and accelerating infrastructure renewal across the area.
The initiative was unveiled at Ngo, where the Chairman described it as “a bold step to reposition Andoni, unlock its economic treasures, and restore confidence for investors, tourists, and development partners.”
Hon. Otuo explained that the new agenda is anchored on three major pillars designed to reposition Andoni as a rising tourism and economic hub in Rivers State.
The first pillar is Investment and Economic Expansion under which the Chairman said the council is wooing domestic and foreign investors in tourism, agriculture, the blue economy, fisheries, hospitality, marine transport, and small-scale manufacturing.
He disclosed that strategic engagements were ongoing with private partners and development agencies to harness opportunities in Oyorokoto, Unyeada Kingdom, Iwoma, Ataba, and other coastal communities with high growth prospects.
The second pillar is Security Stabilisation and Community Peace, where he stressed the link between peace and sustainable development.
Hon. Otuo reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to secure all parts of Andoni by strengthening collaborations with the police, the military, and local vigilante groups to guarantee safe movement, safe investment, and a vibrant, crime-free nightlife for residents and visitors.
Under the third pillar, Infrastructure Renewal and Connectivity, Otuo said the initiative would prioritize ongoing improvements in road networks, waterfront jetties, electricity supply, healthcare facilities, school rehabilitation, and environmental sanitation.
According to the Chairman, modern infrastructure is essential to support the expected rise in tourism and private-sector activity.
Hon. Otuo called on traditional rulers, youth bodies, women’s groups, civil society organizations, and the private sector to partner with the Council in driving the Rediscover Andoni vision.
“Rediscover Andoni is not just a government programme — it is a collective movement to reclaim our pride, showcase our heritage, and build a more prosperous future for every community in Andoni,” he said.
He also assured that his administration will uphold inclusive governance, accountability, and community-driven development.
Rediscover Andoni is a socio-economic revival plan designed to spotlight Andoni’s untapped opportunities, enhance investor confidence, strengthen security structures, and drive long-term prosperity across the LGA.
