The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has been installed as the new Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, assuming the revered traditional title of Daufa VI.

His ascension to the throne comes six months after the demise of the former monarch and follows the provisions of the Ayakoro Community Constitution, which stipulate that the Deputy Paramount Ruler automatically succeeds the late ruler, thereby ensuring continuity in the community’s traditional leadership structure.
The transition process was supervised by officials of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. As part of the succession arrangements, Chief Micha Itekesi was installed as the new Deputy Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro.
Dr. Ogbuku’s emergence has been widely welcomed by residents and stakeholders, many of whom described it as the enthronement of a leader whose dedication to public service and community development has earned him respect across Bayelsa State and beyond.

Speaking shortly after his installation, the NDDC boss described his elevation as a profound honour that transcends titles, public office and personal recognition.
He said the decision of the people to entrust him with the traditional leadership of the community reflected their appreciation for years of sacrifice, dedication and commitment to the development and wellbeing of Ayakoro.
According to him, the confidence reposed in him by the community serves as a reminder that selfless service and genuine concern for others are always recognised and rewarded.
Dr. Ogbuku pledged to discharge the responsibilities of his office with humility, integrity and dedication, while seeking divine wisdom and guidance throughout his reign.
He expressed optimism that Ayakoro would witness a new era of peace, unity and sustainable development under his leadership.
“May God grant us wisdom, patience, courage and clarity. We pray that our reign will bring peace, unity, dignity and greater progress to Ayakoro Community,” he said.
The newly installed monarch also thanked the people for their trust and support, assuring them that he would work closely with all stakeholders to promote harmony, development and prosperity for both present and future generations.
His installation has continued to attract congratulatory messages from indigenes, community leaders and admirers, many of whom expressed confidence that his administrative experience and commitment to service would enhance the growth and stability of the community.
Observers say the emergence of Daufa VI signals a new chapter for Ayakoro, with expectations high that his reign will foster unity, peace and shared prosperity in the riverine kingdom.
