The troubling security issues in the last couple of weeks made me send a mail to my Senator.
Even without a response from the distinguished Senator, I knew he read it.
Days later, the special session on security took place and State Police Act was passed, which for me was a line drawn in the sand to show that Tinubu got one thing right.
His floundering presidency had become reactive if not outright notorious in their failure to protect life and limb.
Tinubu is inundated with wanton destruction of innocent lives in Zamfara, Kebbi, Borno, Kwara, Benue, Katsina, Kaduna and recently, Oyo. It’s so sad that hypertensives can no longer hear the news.
This is not to say that President Tinubu has not put his hands on the plough. It is just that the duo of international terrorism in partnership with criminal enterprise capital overpowers Tinubu’s Security Apparatus
The search for precious metals by criminal enterprise capital for gold, lithium and other mineral deposits in the north, poses a virtual extermination threat to many communities.
There are reports of heavy excavators and stealthy air planes carting away deposits.
Additionally, banditry as an industry is reported as a daily routine. Now, there are no sacred cows or exemptions.
Catholic priests, Army generals or even school children routinely get kidnapped for ransom.
Tinubu’s table without a doubt is full. He needs help to protect life and limb.
His handlers, however, swear the President is doing his best yet the suffering and dying think otherwise.
This is a blistering contradistinction yet to be bridged.
There is no doubt the president needs help, a little help from friends outside and more from insiders. He must curb the menace and sell himself as good enough for another term.
State Police will surely help the President with the small issues.
But concerning the decisive challenge of criminal enterprise capital hunting for gold, the State Police may not be equipped enough to surmount that onslaught. That is the truth.
But before we get to that bridge we must applaud the National Assembly. I see far too many opportunities in this Act that’ll be beneficial to many young men and women.
I can’t wait to see the framework and the actual workings of this novelty.
Tinubu scores a lone goal…finally.
