The state chairman of the Action Alliance Party (AAP) in Edo State, Israel Iyobosa Guobadia has vowed that the party will participate in the forthcoming local government elections and begged the masses to come to work and build the party.
Guobadia who made the pronouncement during an interactive chat with journalists at the party secretariat in Benin City, lamented that the party over the years, in the state, has not been able to show good record because of bad leadership from previous executives.
“Our vision is to evangelize that our party wants and believes in the masses. The motto of the party is for the masses to lead. Action Alliance over the years hasn’t been able to make meaningful impact as a result of bad leadership.
“The party has existed for over 15 years in the state but no good record to show. Our new vision is to ensure the party is known in Edo State. We want people to come to the party and occupy a position that would affect the masses to encourage the masses that want to build, grow and work for the people,” he added.
Asked the strength of the party at present, Guobadia said the party is not known as one of the major political parties in Edo state, but stressed that the APP is known in all the 18 local government areas in the state.
The AAP boss said,” We are planning for our congresses. Saturday, January 16, 2020, is our ward and local government congresses which will hold in the secretariat while January 30, 2020 is the State Congress.
“We are preparing for the forthcoming local government elections. We were told that the caretaker committee will expire in February, 2020. It is expedient that they participate in the Congress to ensure continuity, progress and good work in the party,”
Public Relations officer of the party, Comrade Jacob said the focus is to reposition the party to enable it compete with other political parties in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
