Local Government and primary schools’ contributory retirees in Delta State have been assured of government continuous support to ameliorate the sufferings of the elderly in the state
The Delta State Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko gave this assurance when speaking with newsmen after a peaceful protest by the retirees.
He noted that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the father of everybody in the state has been and would continue to support local government and primary school retires to ameliorate the challenges they face.
Mr Bayoko stated that although it was not the direct responsibility of the state government to pay local government workers, Governor Okowa was sensitive to their plights and would continue to intervene in their issues at all time when the need arose.
He opined that the COVID-19 pandemic affected so many things negatively, but said that everything was gradually picking and would get better in the nearest future.
