The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Committee chairman for the Bayelsa State governorship election and governor of Bauchi State, Hon. Bala Mohammed says Bayelsa State holds the balance of power in Nigeria and he is calling on Bayelsans not to allow the state to be taken over by forces of darkness and evil.
Gov. Bala Mohammed who made the call during the Grand Finale of PDP governorship campaign held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at the Oxbow Lake Boat Club Pavillion in Yenagoa, said Bayelsa is very important, describing the state as the umbilical cord of Nigeria.
He said, “We appreciate your people who have served to stabilize this country. You should not allow this state to go the other way. Some of us benefitted from your own children. His Excellency, the former president may not be here but he is here in spirit.
“You should tell the doubting Thomases that they are lying. He is the biggest beneficiary of the PDP; from the deputy governor to the governor to vice president and president and the president who has imparted in most of us. He cannot go anywhere except in PDP. He wants me to tell you that he is here and most of his people are here and he will continue to support the PDP to go to the promise land.
“Some of us have to tell you that Nigeria appreciates Bayelsa and Yenagoa. We appreciate the Niger Delta. You are the goose that laid the golden eggs. We should not allow you to go the other way. We are with you, we will support you, we want you to support Diri and Lawrence because they represent the future of the PDP and the future of Nigeria.”
In a good will message, the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Aberibe said “Senator Diri will be our governor come November 16”, adding that anybody who said it won’t happen is on his own and does not come from Bayelsa.
“Everybody that is in Bayelsa State is an Ijaw person and the only people that will guarantee the Ijaw struggle is PDP and only Diri will give you that 100 percent guarantee.
“On behalf of the caucus of the PDP in the Senate, we want to tell you that the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is behind the candidacy and governorship of SDD and LAW”, he said.
Also, the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal said the presence of the mammoth crowd of PDP supporters is a very clear and eloquent testimony of the fact that Bayelsa belongs to the PDP and by the grace of God, no one will take Bayelsa away from that party.
“We are aware of their plans to rig the elections because they are not on ground. Come out en masse, vote and protect your vote so that Diri will eventually become the governor of Bayelsa State taking over from Governor Seriake Dickson to continue with the good work and consolidate and ensure he enthrones continuous prosperity to the good people of Bayelsa. We must not allow those with the birth right of promoting violence to come back and we know them, “ Tambuwal said.
In his address, the Bayelsa State governor, Henry Seriake Dickson said, the PDP has been the only party since Nigeria’s independence even since the commencement of political parties till now that has given us a state and, ”that is why we in this state, we in Ijaw nation will continue to say that PDP is Ijaw people’s party.”
“That was why in 2015 even when political calamity struck at the federal level, the usual political storm came, decamping came even in greater degree and number but people of this state and those who mean well, our people stood behind me and stood for PDP and we won the election in all the local government areas.
“Those with us are much much greater than those against us and most importantly, the God Almighty and our leaders who have gone to rest in the bosom of the Lord know that our cause is just and God Almighty through these people, will give us victory again.”
